More about Liam...

My name is Liam King and I am from West Limerick. I have been studying the biological sciences since 2017, earning a BSc in Biology and Agricultural Science w/ Education (2017-2021) from the University of Limerick. I am currently completing a Masters’ programme in bioprocessing. I have taught honours biology to Leaving Certificate level students in Desmond College, Newcastle West as part of the school placement component of my undergrad. I also taught Junior Cycle Science to students in Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, Newcastle West. My experience as a secondary school teacher has taught me to be organized, assertive and efficient. I have a passion for learning and for that reason I decided to return to college to complete my masters’ programme while I am young!
I have played soccer all my life. I played Premier level soccer with my local club, Carrig Celtic, for 4 years. Currently, I play with Lisnagry. I have always been passionate about sport and am committed to bettering myself every day with a keen interest in training, gym and nutrition. Throughout my time in college I have supported my busy lifestyle with several jobs including bartending, butchering and customer care (Virgin Media).
My MSc thesis is about discovering proteins that are regulated by endogenous hormones and how this affects neuroglobin protective actions in Traumatic Brain Injury.
