Interested in working with us?

We are building an understanding of one of the most overlooked questions: why the female brain ages differently, and what hormones have to do with it.

Based in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Limerick (UL), our team works across scales, from the molecular mechanisms of hormone action on brain mitochondria, through sex differences in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, to the analysis of large human datasets spanning proteomics, lipidomics and transcriptomics. We pair laboratory discovery with computational and drug-repurposing approaches to turn mechanism into therapeutic opportunity.

If you are curious about hormones, mitochondria, metabolism and brain health, and you want your work to matter for women's health, we would love to hear from you!

We welcome enquiries from undergraduate, master's and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers. You do not need to have done all of this before. You need curiosity, rigour, and the drive to ask good questions. Tell us what excites you and what you would like to learn.

Prospective students should apply through the Ph.D. programme in Biological Sciences, M.Sc. in Biomolecular Science or M.Sc in Molecular and Analytical Bioscience, and we are happy to support fellowship applications.
