Today (22/01/25) we celebrate the successful culmination of the academic journey of my PhD student (now a postdoctoral fellow at the Liisa Galea Lab in Toronto, Canada), Andrew J. McGovern – your graduation ceremony! Congratulations, Andrew, well done! 🎉
I remember the beginning, when you started as a TA in our department, and the countless discussions we had about specific topics in neuroscience, especially regarding sex differences in various brain functions. In particular, we explored those intrinsic mitochondrial differences that help us better understand each sex's susceptibility to brain pathologies.
After more than three years of dedication and hard work, I am immensely proud of everything you have achieved. I am confident that you will go even further. Stay perseverant, determined, and focused – and reach even greater heights!
